Cargo Ships
Iceland Post Ltd. is issuing two booklets with four stamps each. The motifs are Icelandic cargo ships from the middle of the 20th century: Akranes, Reykjavík. Built of steel in Germany 1970. 4808 BRT 2 x 1900 HP Bergen diesel engine. Nesskip hf. bought the ship originally. It was sold to the company Ísskip hf. on May 14th 1981. It was registered in Reykjavík 1988. Hamrafell, Reykjavík. Built of steel in Germanu 1952. 11488 BRT. with a 6650 HP Man diesel engine. The ship was sold to India and unregistered on Dec. 21st 1966. Langjökull, Reykjavík. Built of steel in Denmark 1959. 1987 BRT with a 2000 HP Deutz diesel engine. The ship was sold to North Korea and unregistered June 20th 1967.
Tröllafoss, Reykjavík. Built of steel in Los Angeles 1945. 3997 BRT with a 1750 HP Nordberg engine. The ship was sold to Liberia and unregistered on October 14th 1964.
