Architecture Mills
On the 11th October 2011, Jersey Post will issue the first set of stamps in a new series entitled 'Jersey Architecture'. Mills are recorded in Jersey from the 12th century and most of what remains is post-medieval. Over the years and centuries, uses ranged from grinding wheat, malted barely and corn to breaking sugar cones, for example. Whilst some of Jersey's watermills and windmills now lie in ruins, others are privately owned or have been restored by the National Trust for Jersey and are open to the public.
